Wireless - WiFi Major industry players are gathering in what so called non-for-profit organizations and forums to talk, plan and communicate among each other and external related firms for the benefit of Wireless Wi-Fi industry and normal technology users. They really have the power of changing the course of this technology!
The Wi-Fi Alliance is a global, non-profit association with more than 200 member companies devoted to promoting the growth of wireless Local Area Networks (WLAN). Their certification programs ensure the interoperability of WLAN products from different manufacturers, with the objective of enhancing the wireless user experience. Since year 2000, more than 2,000 products have become Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™, encouraging the use of Wi-Fi across the consumer and enterprise markets..
The Wireless LAN Association is a non-profit educational trade association, comprised of the thought leaders and technology innovators in the local area wireless technology industry. Through the vast knowledge and experience of Sponsor and Affiliate members, WLANA provides a clearinghouse of information about wireless local area applications, issues and trends and serves as a resource to customers and prospects of wireless local area products and wireless personal area products and to industry press and analysts.
The BWA offers to members an independent voice that is heard by regulators and license authorities primarily throughout Europe but with strong links to North America and the Pacific Rim. It also offers essential technical and market information in its promotion and facilitation of the broadband wireless industry. Members of the Association are from all parts of the wireless industry including operators, vendors, research groups and consultants.
The WiMAX Forum is an industry-led, non-profit corporation formed to promote and certify compatibility and interoperability of broadband wireless products. Their member companies support the industry-wide acceptance of the IEEE 802.16 and ETSI HiperMAN wireless MAN standards.
